In the daily shitstorm of Trump-related news, it's easy for little things to get lost, so I thought I would highlight it here: the Trump admin has scrapped regulations requiring airlines to post baggage fees during the ticket-buying process
This should especially be of interest to those of you in the U.S. who fly the ultra-budget carriers, like Spirit and Frontier. These carriers often offer unbeatable prices for flights between major cities that are one or two states over, like fares in the $25-50 range. The way they try to get you is by imposing very tight baggage limitations and charging you $30-50 per bag for anything that goes over.
I'm not a lawyer, but from my understanding of the article, airlines are still required (at least for now) to disclose all their baggage fees somewhere on their website. But you'll have to go look up their policies on your own now, rather than having them presented to you during the ticket-buying process.
Stay vigilant!
